Opening Night for Ducks, Fountains, Music, and Awards

Come celebrate opening night of the Music Man with Councilman Tommy Wells and Arena Stage

The Neighbors of Southwest Duck Pond are partnering with Arena Stage to support the opening night of the Music Man. We are fortunate to be joined by Councilman Tommy Wells, who will be awarding our Volunteer of the Year. There will be food, live music, and more. Here is a link to our flyer. CROP Hunger Walk

Help Southwest prevent hunger and malnutrition in DC

The Neighbors of Southwest Duck Pond are supporting this year's CROP Hunger Walk. Please help us by donating on the website or by sending us a check dedicated to the Hunger Walk. All proceeds will go towards local agencies such as, D.C. Hunger Solutions and Martha's Table. If you prefer to speak with your legs and join us as we walk around DC on Saturday morning. Neighbors of Southwest Duck Pond's mission is to improve the quality of life throughout our Southwest Community by restoring and maintaining the Southwest Duck Pond to enhance the work of the District of Columbia.
Objectives:
  • Restoring drainage and lighting systems, park furniture, and brickwork to the park's design concept.
  • Coordinating regular clean-up events to keep the park swept, weeded, raked, and generally well kept to enhance the work of District of Columbia.
  • Restoring the park's naturalistic, woodland-style landscaping with a new palette of sustainable planting.
  • Sourcing of a professional landscaping firm to manage the park's ongoing needs.
  • Facilitating a variety of community events in the park with an emphasis on youth development through adjacent local schools and churches, and cultural outreach to the renewed Arena Stage complex.
